Becoming A Veggo

I have always harboured a respect for vegetarians. Also, a large helping of "Your ideas are totally wrong." However, this goes to show that even someone deadset against an idea can change.

Two years ago I met Hannah. Hannah is a schoolfriend of mine and is a vegetarian. We spent endless lunches debating the ins and outs of vegetarianism. I beleived in animal rights sure, but what about the food chain and the circle of life?

But now, I'm more aware about Climate Change, so although I'm not eating meat or fish from shops. It's not because I can't eat other living things, though actually I see more of that side of things every day. When everyone else is tucking into the steaks, I just think of all the water, grain, land, petrol, manpower that went into making those steaks and how, seeing as one wasn't bought for me, I am lessening the carbon footprint of my family meal by a lot.

And today, I cooked a totally vegetarian meal for my family. No meat at all, just brown rice and seared mushrooms, onions, a can of tomatoe and half the spice cupboard. Oh and some frozen vegetables.

Good luck with your vegetarianism!
Lots of love
Lucy
