Wash your clothes with cold water

Our largest household energy use is in heating up water and lots of this we unnecessarily wash down the drain.

Washing your clothes in cold water saves the planet, $'s and stops clothes from shrinking!

If there are troublesome stains use a spot of stain remover to solve the problem instead of wasting valuable hot water.

Hot water is actually more

Hot water is actually more likely to 'cook' the stain in anyway ;)

Soaking helps too

I find I can get really filthy clothes clean in cold water as long as I soak them for a couple of hours. Many washing machines have an option to choose an automatic two-hour soak.

cold wash

For as long as I have owned a washing machine I have cold washed. There is the occasional warm wash but this is usually for hygienic reasons and certainly not stains. I use frend pre treatment on any stains and that , along with outdoor drying does wonders.

hear hear

We do all our washing in cold, I do sometimes disolve the powder in a cup of hot water and add that in to make sure it all disolves properly (eco store powder). We even wash our nappies on cold with only a 1/4 scoop of powder
