Seriously considering it for

Seriously considering it for the first time ever :)

beyond voting

This is just too big and too important to leave it up to politicians - we all need to be a part of the solution, regardless of who our government is.

principles to rule governments

Precisely jojo. If we know that that a good set of principles and policies rule the country and the government it matters less who thinks they rule,

However, I have recently been learning of all sorts of instances where officers have allowed all manner of breaches of policy and law when approving business activities, allowed to do so by apathetic or even reactionary councils.

Therefore, as you say we, the people, have to be on their case. Unfortunately those I call the beautiful people, well meaning I admit, tend to run in the opposite direction to any fight rather than stay around and see that what is good and right is done.

Voting is essential

I agree this is far to important to leave up to politicians, but we live in a democracy and the only way to keep one of the largest contributors to our environmental woes … "Corporations" in line is to adjust the boundary’s they work within through legislation. You have to understand that it is the government that set these policies and it can only be done if they have public support. Make your vote count, vote for a government that really cares about our sustainable environmental future. Vote Green.

Put pressure on all potential politicians

The Greens may 'Talk the Talk' but are they 'walking the talk'?. I.m involved in the solar water heating industry and while the Greens like to think they are encouraging solar water heating, via the changes they made last year in conjunction with labour, they have led to a 40% decrease in solar water heating installations! The greens may have the best intentions, but they are a small fish in a big political pond. If you want to really make a difference in parliment, everyone needs to let all their local canditates know that environmental issues will sway the vote come election time. Don't just focus on the greens.
