Use the Sunshine
Use The Sunshine
Hanging your clothes outside is FREE and has the added benefit of a natural UV stain removal. Shannon Lush recommends putting most stains under a UV light – the sun is the best one that exists. In the winter, put them on a rack beside a window. It might take a bit longer than a dryer, but it’s free and carbon neutral.
Only Wash Full Loads
Waiting until you have a full load will make your washing machine and dishwasher more efficient. Using only cold washes will save around 80% of the electricity used for hot washing.
Use Cloth Nappies
It is estimated that a new baby will use around 6000 nappies before they are toilet trained. At around 50 cents each, this is a huge expenditure. The footprint created in making disposable nappies and adding in the disposal costs, a 500 year decay time and you’re looking at a massive impact for every child in disposable nappies. Cloth nappies are also chemical free and therefore more friendly for your child’s skin. Modern Cloth nappies are easy. www.thenappynetwork.org.nz

As always
I always prefer to dry my laundry outside in the sun, natural, gentle on fibre(I only used drying machine on wet days when living in a hostel on campus. Noticeably heavy wear after each drying session just by checking the fibre) and no electricity usage at all(drying machine hogs power!)
