Stop, or at least cut down on eating meat. This will save a huge amount of greenhouse gas and the lives of appox. 100 animals per year

Totally, I've been

Totally, I've been vegetarian all my life and have recently become vegan because of the awful impact the dairy industry has on the environment, as well as the cruelty towards animals. It uses huge amounts of water and cows that are kept for farming and milk producing eat large amounts of grain that would be much better served being used in under developed nations.
The dairy cows are also kept in small stalls with their udders painfully full. They are forced to be pregnant almost constantly and when they do give birth their calves are taken away from them. These calves are made into veal if they are male or subjected to the same awful process as their mothers if they are female.
Keeping and breeding cows for the dairy industry or meat producing industry is also a major contributor to greenhouse gases.
So making the choice to cut out or cut down on meat, dairy, eggs and honey is environmentally more sound, more healthy and more in the interests of the innocent animals exploited for immendiate human gain as well as gradual destruction of our planet.

Definately the way to go

I started studying ag papers at Massey..soon after I stopped eating most meat and dairy. I totally disagree with the research being done on farming. Seeing cows and sheep with see-through doors inserted into their stomachs is enough to put you off for life. All in the name of increased meat/milk production. The impact on the environment is a huge part of it also. Farming can use a huge amount of water, artificial fertiliser, spray and then there is the trucks carting all the stuff in and out...pretty hard to be friendly on the environment.

Some meat is good

Did you know that in New York City the most enviromentally friendly diet contains some meat and dairy. I'm sure this would also apply to NZ. It mainly has to do with supply and what is grown locally if we all stoped eatting meat alot of farmers would be out of jobs and thats bad for the economy also.

Honey and Eggs

See, with me, meat and dairy, I don't eat any meat (except fish, mostly caught by my grandfather on his amateur fishing boat)and try to avoid dairy, I understand why it is crucial to cut down and cut out. But honey and eggs, so as long as they are organic and locally produced, don't really have much impact on the environment, I don't really think.
