Don't use the dryer!
PLEDGE: Don't use the dryer!
Easy: using a clothes drier uses a lot of power to get your clothes dry. If you can avoid it, don't use it. Hang your clothes outside instead. You would be surprised at how well they dry even when it is cold. Indoor clothes racks are also useful if it is rainy, and they can be moved to the best drying spot as conditions change.

weaning the family off the dryer
I'm having my dryer moved from the laundry out to the garage this coming weekend. That way who ever is heading out to the dryer with a load of damp washing is going to have to walk past the washing line, hoping this will encourage them to stop and peg it on the line instead of continuing and throwing it in the dryer.
Hopefully this will help change our household habit of chucking the washing into the dryer because it's so much easier and more convenient. If they have to go out of their way to use the dryer, it will make sure it's only being used when absolutely necessary
Even better sell your dryer
Even better sell your dryer and you HAVE to use the air and sun to dry your clothing!

If you live in a flat, try
If you live in a flat, try charging for dryer use.
We have a chart will flatmate's names on it, we figured out it costs just around 25c per 15 minutes thanks to those nifty powersaving websites (it's an older dryer), and now those who use the dryer, chuck in a bit of money when the bill comes around. Those who don't use it, don't have to pay!
Saves people complaining about who is making the power bill high, and encourages us to use drying racks!
