Conserve our Fish stocks
PLEDGE: Conserve our Fish stocks
Our fish stocks a dwindling dramatically through overfishing. Let's make a stand by only eating those which are not endangered and boycotting those which are.

a nice idea, but...
... how will fishing less reduce climate change?
RE: a nice idea, but...
Yeah I agree this one needs some further explanation ... I think it is valid though. Eating less fish would actually lessen your carbon footprint because the fishing industry uses a LOT of fossil fuels scouring the ocean for fish.
and the rest!
Being a vegetarian gets land and sea - 30% of land required to feed vegetarians compared to flesh eaters I read somewhere, less silting (with care), less erosion, less deforestation, less greasy dishes to wash up, less carbon emissions all round, cheaper! There are cautions but it's no big deal to do. My mother was horified of course and my father annoyed that I refused to crew on his boat anymore - we had a commercial fishing licence - but they got over it and contrary to predictions my health has been excellent.

Which ones?
Any hints on which ones to avoid?

Well the news isn't good on the fish front but the Forest & Bird Best Fish Guide is a good place to start.

re: conserve our fish stocks
Not quite sure how this pertains to climate change ... unless you add that fishing vessels burn enormous amounts of fuel and have to go further and further afield as fish stocks dwindle so eating less fish would in that way contribute to lessening the carbon footprint of the fishing industry.
If there is no fish then
If there is no fish then that reduces possible food sources for future generations affected by climate change???
What pertains to climate change?
I wonder if 'climate change' is as much about a way of approaching resource use and consumption as it is specifically about greenhouse gases, carbon sinks etc? I find it all relates and since I became very conscious of climate change I've also found myself questioning all my practices in relation to sustainability. I think the solution to climate change is a radical re-think - a new age in which all our actions are done with a consciousness about people and the planet. (Sorry probably too long for a comment!).
