Collect rainwater
PLEDGE: Collect rainwater
If the budget runs to it, buy a 1000 litre water tank to collect rain water from your roof. Devan Plastics in Tauranga is producing a new tank that has a diameter of about 850mm and so can easily sit next to the house without being too obtrusive. Why water your plants or pets with treated town water when there is an alternative? With disaster planning in mind as well, 1000lt of water can can a long way to maintaining independence in the event of a natural disaster - flooding, earthquake etc.
I appreciate plastic isn't the 'green' thing to do but practicality and common sense need be added into the mix.
