Boil a jug with cold water in it

A jug is one of the most efficient ways of heating water, so boiling water from the cold tap rather than the hot tap uses less electricity (and it makes so little difference in time anyway). Plus hot water from a cylinder usually takes a while to come through to the tap leading to further waste.

Also use the hot kettle

Also use the hot kettle water when u only have a few dishes to wash rather than wasting all that cold before hot comes thru the tap

Washing up

using a bowl inside the sink reduces the water and detergent you need for washing up. You can keep the bowl handy while you use the sink for cooking instead of filling and refilling the sink. Also you can use cold water from the tap - sparingly - to rinse off detergent before putting dishes on rack to dry (usually a more hygenic method than drying with a teatowel, and saves on washing tea towels!)

only fill the kettle as much as you need

But make sure you only fill the jug as much as you need otherwise you waste power boiling unwanted water!
