Manurewa High and Murray's Bay Intermediate

Full bus: Be The Change visits Manurewa High in South Auckland.Full bus: Be The Change visits Manurewa High in South Auckland. We have had a busy couple of days doing school visits. We went to Manurewa High School and spoke to over 500 year 10 students. It was an awesome opportunity for us to speak to so many kids and hopefully reach many more people through word of mouth, and students spreading the message of everyday climate saving actions to their whanau and friends.

Wellington High School Visit

in

Hi, Sal here again. We had another school visit today. Wellington High School … teenagers and I won't say we weren't more than a little bit anxious. We’ve got into a groove with the Primary School Students but this was a whole step up again. Anyway, we just jumped in there and the team did a great job. We certainly had a fun time and I think the students did too!

We had a mixed group of year 9 and 10 social studies students who really were very on to it and creative when thinking about climate change solutions.

Envirogroups in schools

At Port Chalmers School we have our whole school involved in Envirogroups. Each teacher plus our Deputy Principal and some parents take a group of children and teach them some aspect of environmental education. The school just buzzes every fortnight when the envirogroups are in action. Each group uses the Enviroschools action planner to plane their actions for their time together. the goups are made up of children from each class and so the whole school has a say in what happens around the place.

Sustainability studies in schools

It's good to see that Suistainability studies will be taught in schools. I think children need to be taught 'how to live'..... not how to consume.
