Action on Fossil Fools Day - 1st April

There are lots of great opportunities to show our concern about our greenhouse gas emissions, and our appetite for strong action on climate.

The Global Day of action on Dec 8th last year was a good example of how we call all be organising actions and events in our communities.

There are three more days of action in the pipeline, which have been called by Rising Tide. Info is below.

Who here in Aotearoa is keen to get involved in any or all of these? Lets start the discussion...!

Climate SOS Carnival

Due to various reasons (most involving post party lethargy!) we only caught the end of Auckland's Climate Change Carnival on Saturday but it looked like a lot of fun. Check out the photos on flickr and the Be The Change website for more info on how you can make a real difference. Hopefully there will be another carnival soon!

Soil Association Lecture

The Soil Association UK's annual lecture was given by author Richard Heinberg at Central Hall, Westminster, London last month. Entitled "What will we eat when the oil runs out?" highlighted the changes we need to make soon if we are to avoid the 4 imminent crises in food, fuel, climate change and depletion of natural resources that await us if we do nothing!

Many of us have taken steps in our own lives to reduce our contribution to the problem, but it’s not often you get a day where everyone can band together and show that:

* We care about this crisis
* We’re prepared to do something about it.

December 8th is that chance...
