When not in use, turn off computer screens. Encourage those around you to turn off their screens.

Fancy computers are fun, but do you really need a high-powered desktop machine, with multiple processors and a fancy graphics card? If all you want to do with your computer is simple stuff like checking your email, browsing the internet, editing documents and playing music, then you have other options.

Standby power-turn it off.
Not using the computer, turn the switch off at the wall.
Finshed using the washing machine, turn the switch off at the wall.We use the machine maybe two hours per day and it stays on for 22 hours _ turn it off.
The stove, finished cooking dinner, turn the switch off.
It may take a few weeks to get the habit, but worth it.
Dishwasher..I do not have one..but turn it off when not in use, same goes for any appliance used for short times.
