The Royal Society of New Zealand has released a statement setting out the basic facts about climate change in a clear, non-technical way. The Introduction to the statement says:
climate change
If you know someone who is doubtful that climate change is a problem, but is still prepared to listen to reason on the issue, the Royal Society of New Zealand has issued a statement that provides a clear, concise statement of the scientific consensus on climate change. It's not radical, but that means it may be more likely to convince a moderate sceptic. You can read it at

I get pretty annoyed by all the air conditions in every car. Especially in New Zealand it isn't that hot, that you would need it. Just turn down your windows a bit and the hot air is going out the car. Not that it brings you fresh air in your car, it also saves fuel! The engines are consuming much more fuel if the heating or air conditioning is on. Open windows instead!
More fuel means using valuable resources, blowing more toxins into the air, more green house gases => climate change!
Stop Transit's Tunnels - Public Meeting Wednesday 13 February 6-8pm
Posted February 8th, 2008 by timjonesVenue: St Johns in the City Church, cnr Willis and Dixon Streets, Wellington
Please Attend - This Is Extremely Important
Transit have begun consultation on the Ngauranga to Airport Transport
Strategy - and this could see more tunnels, more roads and more flyovers
being built through the heart of our city. The result will be more CO2,
more dependence on oil, and a worse quality of life for Wellington residents.
But there's still time to change the plan. Already there's a strong push
to make the city more pedestrian and cyclist friendly, and to invest in

Climate SOS Carnival
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueDue to various reasons (most involving post party lethargy!) we only caught the end of Auckland's Climate Change Carnival on Saturday but it looked like a lot of fun. Check out the photos on flickr and the Be The Change website for more info on how you can make a real difference. Hopefully there will be another carnival soon!

Is your town a Transition Town?
Posted December 9th, 2007 by timjonesI was very pleased to find out at Climate Change Festival in Wellington this weekend that there is an active Transition Towns movement in New Zealand. Transition Towns, http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz/, are towns where a group has taken on the responsibility to plan the transition to a lower-energy and lower-emissions future. It's a concept that's gained a lot of traction in the UK and Ireland, and now it's coming to a town or suburb near you.

Our Parents...
Posted November 22nd, 2007 by oliver_connewIt is well known that I get very passionate over my political views. One, which I have given thought to, is what I think about our parents and politicians. I feel they are very selfish and insensitive towards the problem facing us: Climate Change. I’m sure by now everybody is well aware now the basic science behind it so I won’t go into it.
