Have a personalised glass for every member of the household - everyone knows which is their glass, so you don't need to get a fresh glass out of the cupboard every time you want a drink.

Don't wash your dishes after every meal, wait until there is a decent pile before washing, this reduces the amount of hot water being used because you are filling up the sink once, rather than 3 or more times a day.

If you're washing your dishes in a dishwasher, don't rinse them first.

Most dishwashers are designed to clean very dirty dishes, and will take off most food marks.

If your dishwasher is really struggling you could dip the dishes in hot soapy water and then put them in the dishwasher, as opposed to running them under the hot tap. This uses a lot less hot water, and water heating is one of the most energy-intensive things we do in our homes.
