Climate SOS Carnival
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueDue to various reasons (most involving post party lethargy!) we only caught the end of Auckland's Climate Change Carnival on Saturday but it looked like a lot of fun. Check out the photos on flickr and the Be The Change website for more info on how you can make a real difference. Hopefully there will be another carnival soon!

Sustainable NZ - Green Party
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueThe Green Party has, quite rightly, challenged the government's sustainability credibility. It is relatively easy for Helen Clark to challenge New Zealanders to become 'the first truly sustainable nation' but to lead by example? Well, that's another story!

Soil Association Lecture
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueThe Soil Association UK's annual lecture was given by author Richard Heinberg at Central Hall, Westminster, London last month. Entitled "What will we eat when the oil runs out?" highlighted the changes we need to make soon if we are to avoid the 4 imminent crises in food, fuel, climate change and depletion of natural resources that await us if we do nothing!

The 100 Year Project
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueHave you ever thought about what the world may be like 100 years from now? Ever wondered if there's any point in making those sacrifices to our personal consumption just to 'save the planet'? Ever taken a moment to think about what your children's children's children or other future relatives will have to say about the things we did or didn't do to support each other and help keep our planet healthy? Will the future provide a safe inspiring environment? We all hope for the best but what is best?
Sanity In The Silly Season
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueFor several weeks we have been saving all the Christmas promotional sales and gift emails that rolled in from ethical and sustainable companies to post here in order to help you, dear reader, with your Christmas shopping.
Sustainable New Zealand
Posted December 10th, 2007 by racheblueI laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair when I read what our dear deluded Prime Minister said in her address to the German Council for Sustainable Development last week!
"…New Zealand enjoys a priceless reputation as a nation with a pristine environment, which is clean and green, nuclear free, and, as our tourism promotions proclaim, one hundred per cent pure."
