Envirogroups in schools

At Port Chalmers School we have our whole school involved in Envirogroups. Each teacher plus our Deputy Principal and some parents take a group of children and teach them some aspect of environmental education. The school just buzzes every fortnight when the envirogroups are in action. Each group uses the Enviroschools action planner to plane their actions for their time together. the goups are made up of children from each class and so the whole school has a say in what happens around the place. We do things such as pet care, native bird study, harbour monitoring, making eco friendly cleaners, community work, health promoting schools activities, digital animations, edible gardens, recycled art with a purpose, recycling and more. These actions are chosen by teachers and students and with the idea of making our school a more sustainable environment. P.S. I stole the idea of multiple envirogroups from Waitati school
