We're taking the Be The Change Bus from Bluff to Northland. Along the way we'll be seeding the change as much as we can and seeking stories of people doing good things for the climate. This is our blog.

Wellington High School Visit
Hi, Sal here again. We had another school visit today. Wellington High School … teenagers and I won't say we weren't more than a little bit anxious. We’ve got into a groove with the Primary School Students but this was a whole step up again. Anyway, we just jumped in there and the team did a great job. We certainly had a fun time and I think the students did too!
We had a mixed group of year 9 and 10 social studies students who really were very on to it and creative when thinking about climate change solutions.
With the older students we’re working with them in small groups according to subjects they are already studying. Then we asked them to think about how they could reduce climate change or have a positive impact on the issue and how they would promote and grow that idea.
We got ideas ranging from making cloth bags free to people trading in 10 plastic bags at the supermarket, composting school cafe food waste, wigits for social networking sites, vegetarian lunch options and so many more! Hopefully some of these will start appearing as Bright Ideas here on the website!
We discussed how they are going to be the generation facing the harsher impacts of climate change and how they’re going to play a central role in creating and engaging in the solutions.
I know they are up to it!
